Words from your Event Steward:

Oh Myriad Melodious Mighty Merry Myrg!!!  October 11th is our Anniversary!!  While you don’t haaave to bring our beloved Baron and Baroness roses and Chocolates ( I mean I doubt they will mind)  we’d still love to see you.
We are looking for some lucky people to teach some classes sell some cool things and maybe run a BBQ lunch ( or something)  The event will feature our armoured fighting championships, A+S Championship.  A fun rapier tournament, bardic and TREBUCHETS!!!!!!!! (sorry, what?  *indistinguishable muttering**) Ok I guess the suggested activity of making a practicable breach on the Ag building isn’t something we are allowed to do.  But I am sure there will be missile fun!!!
So if you can help out with the above reach out to myself or one of the co stewarts and we’ll get ya sorted!!!!

YIS Sakeld the Peacemaker

Words from our Heavy Champion:

Let those who read these words know that a Tournament shall be held to determine a new Champion of Sword for the Barony of Myrgan Wood!

Should you be victorious you shall stand as Champion, becoming a trusted advisor to the Baron and Baroness, and stepping up as a leader in our Armoured Combat community.

Entrants must make themselves presentable to the Crown and the Baron and Baroness, and reside within the Barony or have been named Blood of the Wood.

The tournament will take place on the 11th Day of October, AS 60, at the Myrgan Wood Anniversary Event

Lists open at 10:00 am, tournament to begin 10:30.

The tournament will be as follows;

Combatants will fight their way through a round robin, each fight being best two out of three.

The first fight of each of these must be with a two handed weapon (axe, sword, katana, mace), but these weapons cannot be over 5 feet in length.

That is not a typo; five feet, not six.

If you do not have one, some will be available on loan.

The other one or two fights to determine the winner can be fought with any of the combatants preferred style.

Finals will be fought best five out of seven, with the first two fights being fought with two handed weapons.

If you are not authorized with two handed weapons, you will be permitted to fight with a single handed sword and shield, but only if that sword is wielded in a gauntleted hand.

Please reach out with any questions,

Yours In Service,

Sir Korsak

Queer Eye for the Ancient Guy – Staff of the Museum of Antiquities
Ancient Greek and Roman conceptions of sexuality were different from how we perceive it in 2025. While ancient Greek and Roman society did not have the same terms for gender and sexuality as we do today, people still had diverse sexualities and gender expressions. We know this because through artistic expression, such as sculpture, frescoes, and literature, ancient Greeks and Romans traversed the diversity and complexity of sexuality and gender, including same-sex relationships, hyper-masculinity & femininity, diverse genders, and even gender non-conformity. Using the Museum’s collection as a guide, this tour will demonstrate 2SLGBTQ+ representation in the ancient world. The topics discussed will surround the development of the Greek male nude, the concepts of gender through Greek gods, as well how same-sex relationships were represented in myth and history.
