A & S Champion Largess Contest

Avacal has a wealth of artists. Let’s celebrate this, and support our incoming Royals with a Largess Contest!

Make one beautiful, exquisite, small thing and let’s chat about your craft/art. (Documentation not required.)

Pieces will become part of largess, and not returned. There will be prizes!

Prize donations welcome.

Please reach out to Ladyship Susan of Myrgan Wood or Duchess Svava for questions, and to ensure there’s space in the showcase for your work.

Kingdom Fencing Championship

“Greetings Avacal,
As Kingdom Champion of Fencing, it is my great honor to host the tournament to select my successor at November Coronation. I propose to run this tournament in the Hero’s Journey format, a structure designed to test skill, perseverance, and valor.

Weapon Styles:
All competitors may bring the weapon style of their choice as permitted in the Avacal Book of Fencing, and also including spears.
Fighters may change weapon styles between passes, provided both competitors agree before their bout begins.

Double Deaths:
Double Deaths will count as a double loss.

Tournament Structure
The tournament will be conducted across three distinct erics, with competitors progressing based on their victories. Each eric serves a specific function in the tournament flow.

– Eric One
All competitors will be randomly paired from a first-come, first-served queue. Each pair will fight a single pass. Victors will advance to Eric Two. Defeated fencers remain at Eric One and re-enter the queue for another pairing. If space allows, multiple matches may occur simultaneously in Eric One to maintain flow.

– Eric Two
Victors from Eric One are randomly paired through the first 2 available victors from eric one and fight a single pass. Victors advance to Eric Three. Defeated fencers return to Eric One and re-enter the queue.

– Eric Three
Victors from Eric Two enter Eric Three and fight to earn points. Each victory in Eric Three earns one point. A fighter may remain in Eric Three and continue earning points until they are defeated. Upon defeat, the fencer returns to Eric One and enters its queue to begin the journey anew.

– The Finals and Semifinals
The person with the most points at the end of the timeframe will be guaranteed a spot in the finals.
Those with the second and third most points will face off in a best-of-3 bout, with the winner advancing to face off with the person with the most points also in a best-of-3 bout match. During these fights, double deaths will be refought.

The Captain of the Guard WANTS YOU!

As Winter Coronation draws nigh and His Highness shall be crowned King of Avacal this coming weekend, I seek stout hearts to stand the Guard. Eight to ten volunteers—adult, youth, or betwixt—who can spare an hour or two to keep His Highness’s way clear and the King’s peace secure. Even a brief watch will honor the Realm and ensure His Guard is well represented.

If you would be Of Service at the event, pray comment below or send word to jenettewenmoryen@gmail.com with the hour that best suits you.

In Service,
HL Jenette
Guard Captain to His Royal Highness, Aiden ap Grendal.
